Vad
kommer nu att hända? Många ser det amerikanska folkets val av
Trumps som USA:s näste president som den demokratiska västvärldens
undergång och detta kan mycket väl bli resultatet om det vill sig
illa. Men tänk det motsatta – om vi om åtta år kommer att säga
att valet av Trump till president var det bästa som kunde hända USA
och om vi samfällt säga att Trump var USA:s bästa president
någonsin. Detta låter osannolikt men skulle naturligtvis kunna bli
fallet, framtiden är omöjlig att sia.

Donald
Trump är en person som är van att få som han vill. Han är van att
köra över människor och han är otålig. Nu beträder han en
karriär där tålamod är kutym. Men tänk om han skapar en nytt
sätt att styra på.

Det
politiska spelet och dess regler har utvecklats och förfinats under
lång tid inom en “politikerklass” där de som tar sig in
på detta fält har kunnat livnära sig som politiker. Trump kommer
in i politiken från ett annat håll och är inte beroende av fältets
fördelar på samma sätt som andra politiker som befinner sig på
fältet. Detta kan göra honom fri att skapa nya regler. Han kanske
helt sonika skapar ett nytt sätt att bedriva politik på vilket
kanske gör att han kan få mer att hända. Han är kanske heller
inte så bunden till sitt parti utan kan driva igenom sin politik med
hjälp av olika majoriteter i kongressen.

Om
han nu får mer att hända, om han blir en mer effektiv politiker så
blir nästa fråga vem som kommer att gynnas av hans politik. Donald
Trump är en person som levt sitt liv under förhållanden som gjort
det svårt för honom att leva sig in i “vanliga”
människors liv. Nu kommer han troligtvis att behöva vidga sina vyer
och då kanske hans förståelse för den “vanlige”
amerikanen ökar. I bästa fall skulle detta kunna leda till att
fattar beslut som gynnar även de mindre bemedlade i landet.

Ytterligare
ett viktigt perspektiv är Trumps personlighet. Han verkar vara en
extremt extrovert individ med stora behov av att bli sedd. Utifrån
ett amatörpsykologiskt perspektiv så tror jag att han har ett
mycket stort behov av att bli respekterad, han har nog ett enormt
mindervärdeskomplex. Det han egentligen vill är nog att bli omtyckt
och älskad, något som han nog upplever som omöjlighet. Han nöjer
sig med att försöka bli respekterad (och om inte detta kan nås,
fruktad eller hatad). Det räckte till exempel att han upplevde sig
vara respekterad av den nuvarande presidenten för att han skulle dra
tillbaka ett av sin viktigaste vallöften, att omedelbart avveckla
Obamacare.

I
bästa fall så skulle Trump kunna bli en effektiv president som
växer med uppgiften genom att han äntligen hittar en scen där han
kan utföra handlingar som gör att han kan känna sig älskad, något
som han förmodligen strävar efter i hela sitt liv.

kan ju alltid hoppas…

Trump – America’s best president ever?

What will happen? Many see the American
people’s choice of Trump as America’s next president as the
democratic West’s downfall, and this may well be the result if things
go badly. But imagine the opposite – if we, eight years from now,
will say that the choice of Trump as president was the best thing
that happend to the US and if we collectively say that Trump was
America’s best president ever. This sounds unlikely, but can of
course be the case, the future is impossible to predict.

Donald Trump is a person who is used to
getting what he wants. He is used to run over people and he is
impatient. Now he enters a career where patience is customary. But
what if he creates a new way to run the office.

The political game and its rules have
been developed and refined over time within a “political class”
which they that enter in this field have been able to feed themselves
as politicians. Trump will enter politics from a different direction
and do not depend on the field’s edge in the same way as other
politicians who are on the field. This can make him free to create
new rules. He may simply create a new way of doing politics in which
might enable him to get more to happen. He is perhaps not so tied to
his party and can maybe impose his policies through various
majorities in the Congress.

If he gets more to happen if he becomes
a more effective politicians, the next question is who will benefit
from his policies. Donald Trump is a person who lived his life in
conditions that made it difficult for him to empathize with
“ordinary” people’s lives. Now he will likely have to
broaden their horizons and maybe then his understanding of the
“ordinary” American increases. In the best case, this could
lead to making decisions that benefit even the less affluent in the
country.

A further important approach is Trump’s
personality. He seems to be an extremely extrovert individual with a
great need to be seen. From an amateur psychological perspective, I
think he has a very great need to be respected, he’s probably a huge
inferiority complex. What he really wants is to be liked and loved,
something he probably perceive as impossible. He is trying to be
respected (and if this can’t be achieved, feared or hated). It was
enough, for example, that he felt himself to be respected by the
current president that he would withdraw one of his main campaign
promises, to immediately dismantle Obamacare.

At best, Trump could be an effective
president who grows with the task, he finally finds a stage where he
can perform acts that allows him to feel loved, something he probably
strive throughout his life.

One can always hope …
